Honey Tasting and Beekeeping Event

August 22 @ 10:30 am - 1:00 pm

Local beekeepers, Wendy Barettella and Michael Blauberg, will help us explore the fascinating world of bees and the sweet treasures they produce. This session is designed to offer insights into the delicate art of beekeeping and the rich diversity of honey flavors. We’ll begin by delving into the essentials of beekeeping—understanding the lifecycle of bees, their role in pollination, and the environmental factors that influence honey production. You’ll learn about the different types of hives, the tools needed for beekeeping, and best practices for maintaining healthy bee colonies.

Following this, we will guide you through an interactive honey tasting experience. Discover how the source of nectar, regional flora, and seasonal changes affect the taste, color, and texture of honey. You’ll sample a variety of honey types, from the light and floral to the robust and earthy, and learn to identify subtle tasting notes. Whether you’re a budding apiarist or simply a honey enthusiast, this presentation promises a delightful and enlightening journey into the world of bees and their golden elixir.

You will also have the opportunity to purchase the honeys you sample to take home!
